Initially started in 2015 with Comet's rescue, Evanescent officially became a 501(c)3 charity organization on March 30, 2017. Lakota (left) was the first Mustang rescued under our non-profit status. Our rescue has 15 acres of pasture & hay field, a quarantine area and a paddock for separating newcomers.
Lakota is now one of our permanent sanctuary residents and the Mustang in our logo.
Evanescent Mustang Rescue and Sanctuary is created for the prevention of animal cruelty through educating the public about horse care and safety. We are dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of captive Mustangs and Burros that have been abused, neglected, or are in danger of going to slaughter. The program is designed to offer them a safe place to heal from trauma and prepare them to be adopted into a permanent home.
Our goal is to acquire more land for the Sanctuary Mustangs and Burros. More land will allow the seniors or difficult to adopt equines a place to live out their lives in peace.
Feel free to contact us to inquire about Mustangs for adoption.

This pretty paint mare is from the Frisco HMA - Gathered 7/2016; Sold at an adoption event on 2/2019 in Ohio and has already been rescued from the kill pen in Oklahoma by Evanescent. Rain is 4 yrs. old and halter broke at a minimum. Contact us, if you're interested in her.
While our hope is to reach Mustang owners prior to being sold at auction, there is a steady stream of BLM branded Mustangs going through kill pens, which we find difficult to ignore, and cannot let them endure the terror of going across the border to be slaughtered.
See the link below to see the American Legends.. the BLM branded Mustangs & Burros - that your donations have helped save. No donation is too small and any amount is greatly appreciated!.
As much as we'd like to, we are not able to keep every Mustang or Burro saved from the kill pen, so after evaluation they are put up for adoption once their personalities and abilities are known. Are you interested in adopting?
Your support and contributions will fund costs associated with bail (vet care, quarantine, hoof rehab, feed) and will keep Mustangs from going across the border to slaughter.
100% of donations goes to the horses and burros.
