How we started...
Since its creation in May 2015, Evanescent Mustangs has helped over 1,000 at risk mustangs and burros across the nation. As founder and Executive Director of the rescue, and a Licensed Professional Counselor, Candace's dream was to offer Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy for clients to heal alongside rescued mustangs & burros. The original plan was to save a couple of mustangs to rehabilitate and prepare for adoption then save a few more (rescue, rehab, rehome, repeat). The rescue work took on a life of it's own and put a long pause on Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy (EFP) programs but now Evanescent Mustangs is partnered with Texoma Line Counseling to provide EFP to Texoma Veterans, First Responders and their families.
